WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 8, 2023) – Teall Sports & Entertainment, a holding company for innovative sports and entertainment brands, has announced the appointment of Bob Bowlsby to the company’s Board of Advisors.
“Bob is one of the most accomplished and admired athletic administrators in the country,” said Teall Sports & Entertainment CEO, Founder and Chairman, Ben Sutton. “His experience, network and knowledge within college sports and the broader sports space will be instrumental to the strategic growth of our enterprises, especially REVELXP.”
Bowlsby most recently served as Commissioner of the Big 12 Conference. During his 10 years as Commissioner, Bowlsby finalized one of the most lucrative television deals in college athletics, oversaw the expansion of the existing ESPN rights agreement with the debut of Big 12 Now on ESPN+, and reinstated the Big 12 Football Championship Game beginning with the 2017 season. He also played a key role in the formation of the College Football Playoff and guided the Big 12’s addition of BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston. Prior to his role at the Big 12, Bowlsby spent six years with Stanford University as Director of Athletics and 15 years as Director of Athletics for the University of Iowa.

Bowlsby has become a national leader in intercollegiate and amateur athletics. His leadership roles have included the United States Olympic Committee Board of Directors, President of the NCAA Division I-A Athletics Directors’ Association, Chair of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee (2003-04, ’04-05), NCAA Management Council, and NCAA Presidential Task Force on Federal and State Legislative Issues. In addition, he has also chaired the NCAA Wrestling Committee, served on NCAA committees on Financial Aid and Amateurism, the Special Committee to Review Amateurism Issues, and the Special Committee to Review Financial Conditions in Athletics.
The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) named Bowlsby Central Region Athletic Director of the Year in 2001-02, and Sports Business Journal selected him from the four regional award winners as the National Athletics Director of the Year.
Bowlsby earned his bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University (Moorhead) in 1975 and his master’s degree from the University of Iowa in 1978. He was a four-year letter-winner in wrestling at MSUM where he won a NSIC title, and in 2013 he received the Alumni Achievement Award. Bowlsby was inducted into the Dragon Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 and the University of Northern Iowa Hall of Fame in 2007.
